Black Bough is an online retailer. We stock items that we think are well made, well designed and… well priced. Some of the things that we stock are old, some are new, all are made with consideration and care.

From 2011 to 2021 we had a bricks and mortar store in Ludlow but since March 2021 we have moved to operating solely online. Our warehouse and office space is located in the centre of Ludlow.

Black Bough was set up by Adam Withington and Alex Barter in March 2011. Adam previously ran the old Great Western Studios in West London that provided workspace for 125 artists, craftspeople and designers – some of whose work is stocked at Black Bough.

Adam also makes a small range of in-house products, is a keen shopper in specialist garden nurseries and inveterate reader of magazines. Alex Barter oversees Black Bough's vintage watch business - a market he has worked in for over two decades, spending more than 12 years as a vintage watch expert and director at Sotheby’s watch department. Alex is a member of the Antiquarian Horological Society and is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
